Putting Out the "Eye of Fire"

Not sure which is worse: seeing fire burn a place where it shouldn’t, or contemplating the damage done to an already fragile ecosystem.

Maybe it’s the Pisces in me but Friday’s underwater blaze was tough to witness. Despite my concerns for its long term evironmental effects, it was interesting to see it align with the current transits at play.

Let’s look at Mars’ square to Uranus, often seen as a catalyst for explosions, both figuratively and otherwise. Mars in his own right can be pretty destructive, opposing and often testing structures put in place by Saturn. As the incident unfolded Friday morning, Mars was in the middle of doing just that through an exact opposition while hoping to shake things up with Uranus.

I’m intrigued that instead of one, major explosion (Mars in Aries), the fire from the pipe breach remained fixed and endured for quite some time (Mars in Leo). Instead of a big bang, it looked more like an undersea bonfire.

I’ve been using the term “unusual terrain” when examining Uranus/Taurus in hard aspect. From shortages in essential materials and labor to unfathomable events such as an underwater blaze, what Uranus touches rarely stays normal or comfortable. Adjustments will always need to be made as the the terrain in one form or another is bound to change.

Though retrograde Saturn tries to retreat, Uranus leaves him dented enough that one good strike from opposing Mars was all it took to start the fireworks early. It wasn’t until Mars separated from Saturn by a degree that the blaze was outed, but something tells me these three weren’t the only ones involved.

Mercury, now much closer, was within a 4 degree orb to squaring Neptune. In modern astrology, Neptune is said to have rulership over liquids, oils, and bodies of water. Sharing signs with the North Node, I’m wondering if whatever disruptions Mercury had in mind for Neptune just ended up being more intense.

Mercury/Neptune squares are known to bring delays. Though the fire doesn’t point directly to Mercury’s typical significations (unless we’re talking about gas running through a pipeline), the confusion (Neptune) around what caused it and how much damage occurred to the environment have yet to be made clear. I think more information as to what actually happened will be made available once Mercury clears that exact square, whether that information will be truthful is anyone’s guess.
